Hard disks, CDs, DVDs are not eternal. As son as data are digitalized they can be destroyed easily. Human errors, viruses are also the cause of most destructions.

Loosing your complete pictures collection can occur very quickly if you don't take some action to preserve your pictures. Programs, links ... can easily be reinstalled not your pictures and more globally your personal data.

Just After Shot can help you to preserve your pictures.

First have 2 sets of DVDs or CDs. The first set will be used to store original photos, the second the modified (fixed, renamed..) pictures. It is a good thing to have a set per year.

1.As soon as the session is created use the Backup to CD/DVD function to burn original pictures to the first set. If you modify unintentionally a picture, you can find here the original.
2.When you have renamed, fixed...your session burn it to the second set.
3.If you can access a FTP server, upload your session to the server with the Upload to Ftp server function. Using the create folder, Just After Shot, will help you to keep the server side well organized.
4.If you hold an external disk drive or can access to a network drive (or both) you can use the Copy to function to perform a copy of the session.

If you can keep the DVDs or CDs in a different place, you will improve the security level.

When you travel, if you can transfer your pictures to a notebook and backup your pictures to a CD/DVD will prevent the lost or the robbery of your camera. This happens every day. A last advice, don't keep the CD/DVD and your notebook in the same luggage.
